Barberino Palazzo stands on the main street of the historical village Barberino Val d’Elsa (which is very quiet as it has been closed to traffic). A small jewel of Renaissance architecture it was built in the traditional alberese stone with architectural features typical of the Tuscan understated elegance. A good supermarket lies just ouside the village. In the village of Tavarnelle, 2 kms north, you will find a wider range of shops as well as a market once a week.
From the terrace few steps lead to the garden, the pool and the open countryside. Local craftsmanship: hand-made terracotta pots from Impruneta, hand painted pottery from Montelupo, mouth-blown crystal glass from the neighbouring village Colle Val d'Elsa, not to mention the south bank of the Arno river in Florence where you will find a multitude of craftsmen working silver, leather, wood, glass, paper and metal.
Sports: you can explore the Barberino area on horseback, scooters or mountain bikes which can be rented in the village. The local tennis club has 2 well-kept courts which can be booked by the hour

We have just returned from our trip and I wanted to write to tell you how fabulous our week in Barberino Val D’Elsa was. We absolutely loved the house and village. The “palazetto” was so beautiful and extensive, it surpassed our wildest expectations. Indescribably comfortable and charming, plenty of room for everyone, and the views of Tuscany and of the village were to die for. We couldn’t have been happier with our choice. Barberino was ideally located – we traveled easily to Siena, Florence, San Gimignano, Greve, and also had several leisurely days enjoying the pool and vistas. The village was charming and well equipped for our needs (bakery, groceries, banking, pizzeria), and we felt perfectly safe letting our kids wander on their own. They even made friends with some local boys and had numerous “futbol” matches at the local field. Adriana and Deana were darling and helpful. Please extend our thanks to them and to the owners once again.
